Since its establishment in 1994, the Department
had made substantial progress towards the
objective of providing a sound education
and research programme to train our undergraduate
and postgraduate students in the inter-disciplinary
fields of mechanics, electronics, and computer.
Over the years, the Department has broadened
its fields of teaching and research to include
the rapidly advancing technologies of control,
robotics, CAD/CAM, smart materials and structures,
microelectromechanical devices, intelligent
systems, and design. Additionally, the Department
has also recruited a number of young and
experienced scientists to form a strong
and cooperative research team to engage
in advanced research in strategic areas
considered vital and important for future
technological and economical development.
