Prof. R. Du just received the CLP (China
Light and Power Holdings) Renewable Energy
Award. The award, a total of HK$250,000,
is aimed at developing a new absorption
air conditioning system that can be powered
by low quality energy, such as solar energy.
The key to the new system is energy storage
and bubble pump. These two technologies
help to accumulate the low quality energy
so it can be used at the high level. Prof.
Du and his team have been working on developing
a new absorption air conditioning system
(funded by Aoyagi (H.K.) Ltd. and Hong Kong
Innovation and Technology Commission, Grant
No. UIM/122, HK$4,050,000). The award is
a recognition and a boost.
