Starting from the 2004-05 admission,
the Innovation and Design Engineering (IDE) discipline
will be subsumed into the Automation and Computer-Aided
Engineering Programme (ACE) as one of its specialization
streams, namely the Automation stream and he Design
stream. The Design curriculum is much enhanced to reflect
the state-of-the-art development in engineering design.
Students will have many courses
to choose from, including design-oriented and technology-oriented
courses. There is also option for students to "double-stream"
in both automation technologies and design.
The Department of Automation and
Computer-Aided Engineering currently offers two research-oriented
graduate programmes leading to the award of the M.Phil.
and Ph.D. degrees. Applications from both Hong Kong
and overseas will be considered. Financial supports
are available to successful applicants.
A candidate without a Master degree
must first enroll in the M.Phil. programme for at least
one year before he/she is eligible for consideration
to transfer to the Ph.D. porgramme. Part-time study
is available only in the Ph.D. programme.
The part-time taught M.Sc.
programme in the Department provides advanced training
for practicing engineers and managers who wish to keep
pace with the latest technological development in Automation
and Computer-Aided Engineering.
