The minimum requirements for admission shall be as follows:

1. have obtained a Master's degree from a recognized university; or
2. have obtained a Bachelor's degree normally with Second Class Honours in the upper division or above, and have been registered in a course of study for a Master's degree at this university for at least one year and have demonstrated his/her research ability in the opinion of the Graduate Division; or
3. have been registered on a course of study for a doctoral degree at a recognized university for at least one year, and have been approved for admission by the Graduate Council.

In addition to the general requirements above, the applicant must have majored in a discipline that is related to his/her intended field of study in the Department.

Examination Subject

1. Graduate Record Examination (GRE) General Test is strongly recommended for applicants who cannot attend interviews in Hong Kong.
2. Applicants should either
   1. possess a pass grade in English in one of the following examinations: Hong Kong Advanced Level Examination (AS Level) Hong Kong Higher Level Examination CUHK Matriculation Examination, or
   2. have a degree from a university in Hong Kong or an English Speaking country, or
   3. submit one of the following scores for assessment by the programme(s) concerned: TOEFL SAT/GRE (verbal) GMAT (verbal) College English Test (CET) of PRC, or
   4. obtained a recognized professional qualification awarded in Hong Kong or an English speaking country.

M.Phil. Degree Programme (Qualifications for Admission)

The minimum requirements for admission shall be as follows:

1. have graduated from a recognized university and obtained a Bachelor's degree, normally with honours not lower than Second Class; or
2. graduated from an honours programme of a recognized university with a Bachelor's degree, normally achieving an average grade of not lower than 'B' in undergraduate courses; or
3. completed a course of study in a tertiary educational institution and obtained professional or similar qualifications equivalent to an honours degree.

In addition to the general requirements above, the applicant must have majored in a discipline that is related to his/her intended field of study in the Department.
