Note: This programme
is offered for students admitted in the academic
years from 2000-01 to 2003-04. Starting from the
2004-05 admission, the IDE discipline will be
susumed into the ACE programme as one of its specialization
streams.
We offer a B.Eng.
(Hons.) in Automation and Computer-Aided
Engineering (ACE) which is designed to
prepare students who are particularly well trained
in the use of computer technology for the design,
analysis, planning, control, and management of
engineering products. The Programme provides basic
knowledge in electronics, mechanics, computing,
and the know how to integrate theses technologies
for solving engineering problems. It aims at training
students vital enough to lead the new information-oriented
age in the areas of automation and design, and
helps to develop talents who will position Hong
Kong in the knowledge-based global economy of
the 21st century. The graduates will be able to
take up jobs such as system engineers, automation
engineers, software engineers, design engineers,
and interface designers in industries, government,
hospitals, and research institutes. Since they
have received extensive training on computer technology
especially on graphics, modeling and complex processes,
they can also excel in the Information Technology
sector.
We provide core courses and
training in three streams, namely the Automation
Stream, Computer-Aided Engineering Stream,
and Design Stream.
