Study Scheme

Note: This section describes the curriculum, stream selection guidlines, and graduation requirements for B.Eng. (ACE) students admitted in 2006-07 and thereafter.

1. Curriculum Structure

The new curriculum is structured into two components, namely (1) Major Required, and (2) Major Electives, which include core electives, and non-core electives.

By the chosen combination of core electives, students can qualify for one of the two department streams of specialization, namely Automation and Design.

1.1 Major Required

The major required courses are common to all streams of study, and are required for all undergraduate students.

1.2 Major Electives


A. Applicable to students admitted in 2006-07 and thereafter


Students are required to take a total of 33 units of Major Electives (at least 12 units of ACE3000 level Major Electives Courses). The major electives consists of core and non-core electives.


B. Applicable to students admitted in 2005-06

Students are required to take a total of 36 units of Major Electives (at least 12 units of ACE3000 level Major Electives Courses). The major electives consist of core and non-core electives.


C. Applicable to students admitted in 2004-05

Students are required to take a total of 39 units of Major Electives. The major electives consist of core and non-core electives.
